How do we deal with a troublesome contractor?
We are renovating our new house. We really trusted our contractor but, he continues to raise the price and the current budget is already way off our original budget. We had decreased the amount of workload,but, the price has only increased.If questioned, he asks us to find another contractor instead and acts very unprofessionally. This is very difficult as we are in the final stage of renovation. My family is very worked up abt this. Pls urgent help needed. Thanx in advance.

- Do you have his contractor's license #? if not, you should. It depends on which state you live in but in most a contractor has to have a license to perform work over a certain amoutn (Michigan is $600.) You can then contact the licensing agency; should be under the state labor or economic developement department. If you go on your state's website you can find licensing information. I know that I value my license enough to make every effort to keep clients happy through being conscientious and communicating each step of a project. You can hopefully get help from the state.
