How much should I pay a painting contractor - interior for new construction? I live in central east coast of florida and looking for pricing interior paint on a new home that i am building, want to know what the contractors are getting per sf and what are they charging for base board, doors and windows, ect. Should a contractor pay for re-painting after having to re-open a wall? Our contract specifies that we are to hire our own painter. The painter came and painted when requested to do so. After this our contractor had to re-open the wall to install a shower valve that was missed during installation. The contractor now expects the painter to repaint for no additional charge, and claims this is completely "normal". No mural, just prime & one color of paint.

Florida: How do I deal with a contractor that overcharges me & threatens to sue in small claims court? Agreed to complete by specific date because nec. for code. Did not do anything by agreed date. Agreed to a maximum price but then charged more than double without completing the job. Refused to investigate errors and complete job. Has been harrassing me by phone, email & letters. Now threatening to sue in small claims court. Also misrepresented his license origninally and his level of success. Said he could do anything but actually only licensed painting contractor . Is it wise to leave door key to paint contractor? I'm having my new house painted by paint contractor and the whole job will take about 5-6 days. What is typically the common practice here: do I leave the door key with the contractor for the whole week so he can get in/out, OR do I open the door for him in the morning and lock it when the day is done? I don't currently live in the new place so having to drive back and forth to open/close the door for the painters is kind of a hassle.
