Contractor? I hired a contractor to do a fire damaged duplex unit. He told me in the beginning that there would be no money out of pocket. I do not have full replacement cost coverage on my insurance. We agreed for the contract price, plus the supplement checks that come in. Now he is telling me that I owe for the deprecation as well. This was not our agreement. Do I have to pay this? No, it was not written in the contract. I want to also know if the 20% overhead & profit is built into this. He also has not completed this job and it has been going on for 8 months on a small duplex unit. Can I finish it myself and deduct this from the contract amount?

Getting on is always a huge ordeal, and having to do it several times a week is very time consuming. I was wondering how to go about obtaining a contractor id so that I could get on base easier each time.

How do we deal with a troublesome contractor? We are renovating our new house. We really trusted our contractor but, he continues to raise the price and the current budget is already way off our original budget. We had decreased the amount of workload,but, the price has only increased.If questioned, he asks us to find another contractor instead and acts very unprofessionally. Can a contractor in the state of GA hold money from a subcontractor based on an insurance claim? A framer cut a plumbing line in a house and filed a claim with his insurance along with the General contractor's claim for the same incident. The GC is now holding payment from the subcontractor because nobody's insurance wants to pay.
